How to reach Amarnath:

1)Reach Srinagar, India
2)From Srinagar, you have two routes
3)Srinagar to Baltal, Baltal to Panjtarni, Panjtarni to Amarnath
4)Srinagar to Pahalgam, Pahalgam to Panjtarni, Panjtarni to Amarnath.

We reached Srinagar from hyderabad via flights

Day 1: From Srinagar, we hired a tax to Pahalgam for Rs. 3000 ( at the time of this writing Jul 2014)
Day 1: Rest in a Hotel at Pahalgam
Day 2:
1) At 5AM Walked till Helipad, at Pahalgam and waited for our turn and our turn came at 1pm afternoon.
We reached panjtarni by helicopter in 10-15 minutes.
2)After reaching panjtarni, we hired Horse for 1500 to and fro till amarnath cave. It took 1 hour.
3)From Amarnath cave, there are easily 1000 steps to reach the Lord Amarnath ice shiva lingam.
which took 45 minutes for us.
4)We returned to Panjtarni by our horse on the same day at 5pm.
5)We had to return pahalgam on the same day by helicopter but due to Climate conditions, they cancelled.
But helicopters from panjtarni to baltal were being operated without any issues. We thought of suggesting
to buy tickets from baltal to panjtarni and from panjtarni to baltal and the fare is also very cheap, compared
to the helicopter tickets from pahalgam to panjtarni and from panjtarni to pahalgam.
6) As there were no helicopters, we hired a tent for 250 for whole night.
7) There were many NGO's serving hot food and tea which is unlimited and free.
8) Please take their visiting card and donate any amount of money to those NGO's for the service and
food they are providing unlimited to the yatris.
Day 3:
1) We waited for our turn till 1pm but helicopters were not started.
2) We cancelled our ticket and booked by cash from panjtarni to baltal which is just beside the himalayan
helicopter service.
3) we reached baltal in just 7 minutes.
4) From baltal, we reached srinagar and then to pahalgam as our luggage was at Pahalgam.
5) We checked out from hotel and returned to Srinagar on the same taxi as we came to know that the
next day was Ramzan festival and there will be huge traffic to return to srinagar from pahalgam.
6) we reached srinagar at 7pm and checked in Hotel.
Day 4:
We saw some places in srinagar and returned hyderabad by flight in afternoon.
